Get to Know: Elf Day!
Many of us know a loved one, often being a grandparent, who has been affected by dementia. This horrible illness, affecting the elderly, has been an ongoing fight for years and years. It is our job to help fight this illness and when we all come together, we have achieved some really great things! At Alzheimer’s society, they are fighting this issue and have been for years now. They have accomplished so much and with our help, they can take this even further. Over the last year, their income has increased from £103.6 million to £106.9 million and this will keep on growing with our support. And if you wonder where your donation goes, well with every £1, 89p is given directly to those affected by dementia and the other 11p is used for future income.
They have contributed £150 million to research into care, cause, cure and prevention of dementia and have now over 2 million people signed up to their campaign Dementia friends learning all about this awful illness. These facts and statistics alone show the importance of this charity! Now on the 7th December be ready to take part in this year’s Elf Day where you decide whether you put on a full costume or just a hat and go show your support to people battling dementia. 7th December is the official date, but they state themselves that any support throughout the month is amazing as it’s the message that matters! So be ready for Elf Day and take part whether you’re working or just at home the smallest of gestures can make such a difference to some people!
